Day 1
Arrival & Introduction to Palm Oil in Malaysia
- Arrival in Kuala Lumpur & check-in
- Orientation session: Overview of Malaysia agricultural landscape & palm oil sector

Day 2
The Palm Oil Supply Chain & Certification Systems
- Visit to RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) office or training partner
- Workshop: RSPO principles, sustainable sourcing, and ethical trade
- Case studies: Corporate sustainability efforts in palm oil
- Evening reflection and group discussion

Day 3
Plantation Field Visit & Community Engagement
- Travel to a certified sustainable palm oil plantation (Selangor/Perak or Sabah)
- Learn about smallholder farming practices and ecosystem management
- Dialogue with farmers/workers on land use, income, and social equity
- Forest buffer zone walk: Agroforestry and conservation practices
Outcome: Students witness firsthand how sustainable practices are
implemented in the field.
Day 4
Biodiversity & Environmental Impact
- Visit to a conservation area or wildlife corridor adjacent to plantations
- Lecture by environmental NGO: Palm oil vs biodiversity What being done?
- Hands-on activity: Planting native species or assisting in reforestation efforts
- Group journaling and environmental ethics discussion
Outcome: Students explore ecological impacts and restoration solutions.
Day 5
Traceability & Green Innovation
- Visit to palm oil processing facility (certified mill or refinery)
- Understand how traceability works from plantation to product
- Workshop: Product lifecycle analysis & supply chain transparency
- Group project: Design a palm oil sustainability label or campaign
Outcome: Students link field practices to consumer responsibility and
green marketing.
Day 6
Ethical Perspectives & Policy Dialogue
- Panel session with stakeholders: Farmers, industry reps, NGO, and policy experts
- Dialogue on land rights, indigenous communities, and fair labor
- Final team project presentation
- Closing circle and farewell dinner
