Day 1
Arrival in Luang Prabang & Orientation

- Visit to the UXO Lao Visitor Center (to understand the landscape historical context)

Day 2
Journey to Nam Et-Phou Louey National Park
- Scenic drive to Viengthong (gateway to the national park)
- Introduction to Nam Et-Phou Louey: history, ecosystems, and species protected
- Meet with local conservation team and stay at a local guesthouse
Outcome: Learn about community-based conservation and sustainable
park management.
Day 3
Wildlife Tracking Experience (Eco-Trekking Begins)
- Begin multi-day wildlife tracking trek with local guides
- Boat safari on Nam Nern River at night to spot wildlife (civets, otters, Sambar deer, etc.)
- Eco-lodge stay in the jungle
Outcome: Participate in ethical wildlife tracking and understand nocturnal
animal behavior.
Day 4
Forest Ecology & Camera Traps
- Continue guided forest walk with focus on biodiversity and habitat identification
- Set or check camera traps used for wildlife monitoring
- Discussion: Elephant and Gibbon Protection Programs
Outcome: Understand the use of technology and data in wildlife
conservation.
Day 5
Return to Viengthong & Community Conservation Models
- Hike out and return to the park entrance
- Visit a local village to learn about the incentive-based ecotourism model
- Evening storytelling by villagers on traditional forest beliefs
Outcome: Explore how ecotourism supports conservation and cultural
preservation.
Day 6
Travel Back to Luang Prabang & Reflection
- Return journey to Luang Prabang
- Afternoon free time for journaling, group discussion, or market visits
- Closing session: Connecting Conservation with Climate & Culture
Outcome: Reflect on the balance between tourism, conservation, and
community needs.
