Day 1
Arrival & Introduction to Halal Ecosystem
- Arrival in Kuala Lumpur & hotel check-in
- Welcome session: Overview of the Halal Ecosystem in Malaysia
- Visit to Malaysia Halal Park or similar hub
- Group icebreaking & cultural briefing
Outcome: Students understand the scale and diversity of halal-certified
industries.
Day 2
Halal Certification & Food Industry
- Visit to JAKIM (Department of Islamic Development Malaysia)
- Workshop: Halal certification process and global standards
- Tour a halal food processing facility (e.g. poultry, snack, or beverage producer)
- Discussion with a halal quality assurance team
Outcome: Students observe how halal standards are applied in production
and supply chains.
Day 3
Islamic Finance & Shariah-Compliant Banking
- Visit to Bank Negara Malaysia Islamic Finance Gallery
- Meet professionals from an Islamic bank (e.g. Maybank Islamic or Bank Islam)
- Session: Principles of Islamic finance: Riba, Zakat, Mudarabah, and Sukuk
- Case study group work: Comparing conventional and Islamic finance models
Outcome: Students grasp core differences between conventional and
Islamic financial systems.
Day 4
Halal Innovation & Global Trade
- Visit Halal Development Corporation (HDC) or innovation-focused halal incubator
- Dialogue: Malaysia role in the global halal economy
- Group project presentations: Halal product or service idea for international market
- Cultural excursion to Putrajaya Mosque and architecture tour
Outcome: Students connect theory with innovation and global trade
strategies.
Day 5
Program Reflection & Departure
- Final group discussion: What can we learn from the intersection of faith and economy?
- Personal reflection journaling session
- Depart for airport
Outcome: Students reflect on the broader impact of ethical economies and
faith-based entrepreneurship.
